Horrible experience today. Went in to renew my tag and update my last name on car title (due to marriage). The woman was a total racist from the beginning. She messed up my last name and had an attitude when I told her it needed to be fixed. When it was time to give me my stickers for my tag, she told me she was going to me a June sticker because the system picked up my maiden name as my last name since my full legal name is in this order; first name middle name maiden name and married last name.
She said that the computer picked up my maiden name instead of my other one because "you people" always decide to keep all of your names. But "people like us" drop our middle name. This was uncalled for and rude. How can someone working there refer to me someone as "you people" (I'm Hispanic) I immediately thought about reporting her, but figured I wasn't going to get anywhere by doing that. Everyone there seems just as racist and rude.
Extraordinarily unpleasant, unprofessional and RACIST. I went here today to renew my registration. When I was called up I greeted the woman behind the counter....she didn't even look at me. I then told her why I was there...still no look, no response. Finally she turned and made a hasty, exasperated gesture to me for my documents. She expected me to somehow know every little detail of the process and didn't inform me about anything I had to keep asking her questions just to keep getting snapped at. She hassled me about my insurance for no valid reason. Unfortunately I am currently staying very close to this office but I will be making the drive to another one in the future to avoid this MISERABLE place should the need arise.
I showed up at 16:36. The line was pretty long, so the 45 minute wait was to be expected. There was a nice lady and gentlemen sitting at a table at the front of the line who ensured I had all the correct documents before I got in line. When I finally got to the counter I was assisted by Ivory. She was pleasant and very efficient. They are are a lot faster per person at this location than the Shelby Co one on 280, but my tags were 50% more expensive. I will probably just switch my title to WA next year since they only charge about 1/3 of the price there, can do it all online, and they will mail my tags to Bham without any addl fees. The county of Jefferson is obviously run by crooks.
I live to closer to other DMV but I prefer this one because if the Great Customer Service that I received here.
Don't try to pretend like you're so professional when you're insulting people in such a way.
The process went a lot better than I expected. Staff was friendly and helpful. Lines were long due to it being the end of the month, but the staff managed to process everyone in a timely manner.
