I don't wish bad things on too many people but I wish he would go out of business and have something else move in or someone else buy him out and operate the store. I really like having a hardware store so close to my house but it's unfortunate how bad it is because of the owner. I won't be going back. The hours there are ridiculous too. I have to rush home from work to make it before his close time.
I AM DONE WITH 5 POINTS HARDWARE! I try to shop local when I can but every time I go to that place it is worse and worse. The guy who owns the place is a bitter, angry old man who makes you feel like an idiot. I asked him if he had any valve stems for a faucet that I needed. I showed him a picture and I knew exactly which one I needed. He said he wouldn't know which one it was unless he had the old one in his hands. I asked him if he could show me where they were (I already looked around but couldn't find them, that place is a mess with junk everywhere) and he told me he was too busy and couldn't waste his time helping me look through them. He wouldn't even show me where they were. Oh and by the way, I was literally the ONLY person there. So from now on it's Lowes, Home Depot or online unless anyone knows of a good local hardware store close to me where their customer service is at least a 3/5.
After passing three locked doors, with directional signs posted (not very convenient), I entered the rear of the store only to find it somewhat void of sales associates or customers. Finally discovered one customer and one associate. Armed with close up pictures of what I needed (faucet) along with actual faucet hardware, rather than showing an interest in what it was I needed, I was treated like an idiot and then asked what it was I needed. Finally told this associate to forget it and that I was sorry I bothered him and left. Have no idea how they stay in business. Especially from some of the other posts on this site. I managed the customer service function for a national retail chain and website generating over 1 billion in sales/yr. Associates like this would not have made it if they provided a customer experience like this.
The location is convenient if you live downtown. We had key copies made that were inexpensive and we were in and out real quick. It was a good experience overall.
I usually don't write reviews like this but I have had it with this place. I don't know how he even stays in business. There's never anyone there and that property value has to be pretty high.
This place actually deserves negative stars. The owner is rude and disrespectful. If you need help finding an item, but you don't know the brand name of the item, you can expect to be told to leave and never come back again. And if you are not leaving fast enough, you can expect his assistance with leaving, by being pushed out of the door. This is how my seventy year old mother was treated at this establishment. She was looking for pellets for mice. He tried to sell her traps, that she did not want. When she tried to explain what she was looking for he told her to leave and that she could never return.
Great local hardware store. Been in business for close to 80 yrs. They have everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING that you could possibly need for any necessary repairs around the home or just a DIY hobby project
