Great customer service and well stocked and lit area. Fast food service and it was delicious!
Green Acres is perhaps the first restaurant in the Birmingham metro area to sell chicken wings as a featured item on their menu. Since then you habe had restaurants pop up all around, doing the same. I drive over 20 miles to go downtown Birmingham to buy their chicken wings. They sell much more than wings. Not only is it historic, but sell good, delicious food.
I had the whitening fish fillet plate and it was scrumptious. It reminded of the way my granny cooks fish. The fried green tomatoes (add hot sauce&lemon pepper, trust me you won't regret it) are something to write home about from summer camp. Another recommendation, get the pork chop sandwich all the way and add some fried green tomatoes to the sandwich (you can add lemon pepper if you're feeling jazzy). It's worth a try on your cheat day. It's a nice little spot to get some fried cuisine and the prices are reasonable. I go to the one downtown on 4th Avenue.
I love whole whiting fish,green acres has the best whole whiting I have ever had,and the fries are good too.
The chicken was good, but the okra was great. I do not like the fact that they lay napkins on your bread and it gets stuck. The fries are soggy. This is as a historic restaurant so I will continue to support.
