Mostly tidy city square Park with some fun events. Nothing to do there outside of the events though, no playground for kids or anything terribly interesting. It is mostly a spot to sit for lunch, or a pedestrian through way.
I grew up with this park an essential to my childhood memory. As a street photographer it’s history, beauty, a place I once finished a 5k race. Where diversity mingles in respect. Large trees with eyes of historical moments. Behind Birmingham’s Courthouse the end of 20th street, it’s the center of downtown Birmingham. On Christmas Eve I Photograph #thehomelessinbirmingham giving warm clothing and a hot breakfast. Every Sunday there’s a wonderful group offering an open church service on the street.
The park was decent, however the blatant disregard for my ancestors is not something I will ignore. Just as I would NOT approve of anyone else's monument being "boxed".
Confederate monument hidden behind ugly plywood box. I won't return to this park for that one reason.
Historical park. Lovely when all the fountains are on. Nice place to walk around.
Beautiful Park. There are homeless people around. But you can't blame the park for that.
The homeless there were not a nuance at ALL. I was not approached for hand outs or any of the such.
