I've been using them for years and they are an excellent, no frills locksmith. Great product, fast service and very helpful. They were willing to walk me through taking a lock apart and getting it to them vs coming out and charging me for service. I'm very pleased and will use them anytime I have a need.
Very rude, arrogant, snobby people on the phone and face-to-face. I gave them a dispensing machine to unlock, they said leave it by the door, will look at it and call you today. Two days later I called and asked if they looked at it. The guy said no, I will look at and call you after a while. At the end of the day I called to ask if he looked at it. He said no. I asked when are you going to check it out? He said when he gets to it. The next day I go over, I found the machine exactly where I left it. I asked the guy at the counter, did you check or work on the machine? He said no. I pick it up and walked out.
Had a car storage carrier with a key broken off inside the lock. Took it to another lock and key company in Birmingham and they gave up after about 5 minutes. Went to Hoover Lock and Key where they worked on it diligently for a half hour, got the broken key piece out, made a new key, all for under $20.
We had our home rekeyed by Hoover Lock and Key. There were 4 doors total. Unfortunately, 3 of the 4 locks have broken. The woman who rekeyed the locks was very professional and helpful. She came to our home and fixed the broken locks timely for the first 2 instances. We should not have had to waste our time getting the repairs, but her willingness to stand by her work was appreciated. Unfortunately, I spoke to a gentleman when the 3rd lock broke. He was rude and didn't seem to care that the work was faulty and did not stand the test of time. I can not in good faith recommend Hoover Lock and Key to anyone. When 3 of 4 locks break...that is not a good sign of workmanship...
