I’ve not ever been disappointed with my result. They also go the extra mile to make you comfortable.
At the Southern Women's Show, I got a card for a free facial. Normally, (being on a budget) I don't often do things to pamper myself. I called to make an appointment and was able to get in that same day! After I checked in at the front desk a young, smiling girl came and introduced herself, Gabriella. She took me to the 'Spa.' As soon as I walked in the area, I could tell the lights were dimmed and soft, beautiful music was paying lightly in the background, nice touch! Gabrielle gave me a soft, white, robe and little slippers and showed me to the Ladies room where I could change. In there, was tons of huge mirrors, Showers, and even lockers (with a key) for me to lock up my clothes and purse. She said, after I changed, she would meet me right out front, in a cute lobby, full of chairs, magazines, and soothing music called 'The Relaxation Room.' I didn't wait long before she came and got me and took me too a small, dark room with a Massuse table in it, and a bowl of hot, soapy water on the floor. My feet soaked while we had our consultation. Awesomeness!! We talked in detail about what my skin is like, and what products I use, and what kind of elements I most often endure. Before we started I met he teacher (all services are preformed by students.) the teacher explained she would pop in from time to time over the 60 minutes of my facial, however, I was so relaxed, I didn't even notice! Gabriella's touch was great as it was not too hard, but not too soft. She massaged my shoulders and my feet (!) with oil and lotion, and scrubbed and exploited my face, and I left feeling amazing and smelling like Aveda! (Which I LOVE!). She really is amazing and only 21 years old, I told her she would absolutely go far!! Aveda sure has a winner with this one!! Anybody who is ever considering getting a Facial, Run to Aveda, or call them NOW! It was so relaxing!
I've been maybe 4 times now for haircuts and once a perm. The haircuts were great! The only place I felt I was sacrificing by having students cut my hair was in the time commitment (it took 2-3 hours for each cut), but to have a nice cut that I can afford is worth it for me! The quality of cut for the price is unbeatable and the atmosphere is so cool. (Hello, cup of tea while waiting? Yes please!) Getting my perm, on the other hand, was disappointing. I paid a lot for that and it was so loose that it didn't even look like I had a perm at all :( So I would give the haircuts 5 stars and the perm maybe 2 or 3.
I've been going to Aveda since I moved to Birmingham 4 years ago and have always had a good experience. I have my nails done there, I get facials, I get my eyebrows done, and I get my hair cut and colored there frequently. I have always had a great experience. Usually I find a student I like and stick with her until she graduates. You have to be specific about what you want and what you are looking for-- and they will work really hard to give you what you want. My son also gets his hair cut there and he is always happy- and he's 16. The products are great and I always feel pampered. You can't be in a rush to get your services done, they are not a typical salon- just keep that in mind when you make an appointment.
Had my hair done here last month for prom. Great experience!! The place is so nice, people friendly and you're offered tea or water while you wait for your stylist. I got there a few minutes early and my stylist came to meet me very quickly! Mason was friendly without being too familiar, showed me where the restrooms were before we got started and made my overall experience great. His instructor was very kind too :) he worked with me and my opinions to create the prettiest prom updo I've ever had!! I have naturally curly hair and loved how he wanted to play up my texture, not straighten it out. I felt like my normal self, only prettier! Great experience and didn't take that long, saving me prom day stress. When I finished and went to pay, there was an issue with my card and I was obviously embarrassed but the man at the counter was very kind and understanding, he waited patiently for me to call and get it fixed and never made me feel rushed to pay or like I was inconveniencing anyone. I have been to several beauty schools in the past and while I love them all, Aveda is my favorite!! Can't wait to come back for another appointment soon :)
